GROMM — Glove-Restorer of Muscular Mobility
GROMM is a compact, wearable rehabilitation device that restores hand mobility for people living with partial muscle atrophy. Worn as a glove, it stimulates muscle contractions with small, safe electrical discharges — letting the patient use their hand from day one, while also working toward long-term recovery.
How it works
When the patient attempts a movement, the glove delivers a precisely timed electrical discharge to the appropriate muscle group, helping the hand complete the intended motion. Used continuously, this combination of immediate functional support and repetitive stimulation drives muscle rehabilitation: over time, the hand learns to perform the same movements without the device.
Key advantages
- Electrical stimulation, not mechanical assistance. Competing rehabilitation gloves move the fingers mechanically; GROMM activates the patient’s own muscles, which is what produces real rehabilitation rather than just task completion.
- Use it from day one. Unlike clinical-only stationary devices, GROMM is functional immediately — the patient can use their hand normally from the first day of wearing the glove.
- Designed for everyday wear. Compact, lightweight, and battery-powered, intended to be worn continuously throughout the day rather than only during clinical sessions.
- Recovery, not just compensation. Prolonged daily use can lead to full rehabilitation — the patient eventually using the hand without the device — which is out of reach for purely mechanical assistive gloves.
